Το ταξίδι της Χαβάγιας στην υφήλιο: η περίπτωση του Αρίσταρχου Δημητρίου στην Ελλάδα.

Abstract

Στην διπλωματική εργασία αυτή εξετάζεται, αρχικά, η παρουσία και εξέλιξη της χαβάγιας ως μουσικού οργάνου και, ακολούθως, η πολύτιμη συνδρομή του Αρίσταρχου Δημητρίου στην καθιέρωση της χαβάγιας σε Ελλάδα και Κύπρο. Ειδικότερα, οι στόχοι της ερευνητικής προσπάθειας συνυφαίνονται με δύο κύριες ιστορικές αναδρομές: από τη μια, με την ιστορική αναδρομή στις απαρχές της εμφάνισης - προέλευσης του οργάνου, στη διάδοση - εξάπλωσή του, στην εξέλιξη και στη συνολική του απήχηση. Από την άλλη, με την ιστορική αναδρομή στην πορεία του Κύπριου Αρίσταρχου Δημητρίου, ο οποίος φαίνεται πως έθεσε τις βάσεις για την καθιέρωση της χαβάγιας στις ελληνικές και κυπριακές μουσικές σκηνές και άλλες κοινωνικές εκδηλώσεις. Πώς η χαβάγια ξεκίνησε το μεγάλο της ταξίδι από τα νησιά της Χαβάης, πώς ξεπέρασε τα στενά γεωγραφικά όρια της περιοχής μέσα στην οποία «γεννήθηκε», πώς εξαπλώθηκε σε ολόκληρο τον κόσμο και ποιά ήταν η τύχη της μέχρι τις μέρες μας; Πώς συνέδραμε ο Αρίσταρχος Δημητρίου, ώστε η χαβάγια να φτάσει στην Ελλάδα και στην Κύπρο και να αποτελέσει όργανο με σημαντική παρουσία στη μουσική ζωή και στη δισκογραφία;

This master deals, first, with the presence and evolution of the hawaiian guitar as a music instrument and, second, with the valuable contribution of Aristarhos Dimitriou in establishing the hawaiian guitar (by the name ‘haváyia’) in Greece and Cyprus. More precisely, the aims of this research effort are related with two historical retrospectives: on the one side, with the historical return to the early appearance and origin of the instrument, its diffusion and spreading, its evolution and global resonance. On the other side, with the historical retrospective on the course of cypriot Aristarhos Dimitriou, who seems to have set the basis of the establishment of the hawaiian guitar in the greek, as well as cypriot music scenes and other public manifestations. How did the Hawaiian guitar start its long journey from the Hawaiian Islands, how did it exceed the narrow geographic limits of the area in which it was «born», how did it spread in the whole world and what was its fate until nowadays? How did Aristarhos Dimitriou contribute, so the hawaiian guitar would reach Greece and Cyprus and become an instrument with important presence in the musical life and in the discography?
