Entrepreneurship education in primary education: case study of Greece, the Netherlands and Finland

Abstract

This thesis examines the implementation of entrepreneurship education in primary education through a comparative analysis of Greece, the Netherlands, and Finland. More specifically, how entrepreneurship is incorporated into national curricula and educational practices, as well as the extent to which these approaches align with European educational policies and the EntreComp framework. The research follows a qualitative, descriptive, and interpretative methodology based on secondary data, including academic literature, curriculum documents, policy reports, and case studies.

The findings indicate that all three countries promote entrepreneurship education through experiential and cross-curricular approaches, although with different levels of institutionalization and implementation. Finland presents the most systematic integration, the Netherlands emphasizes flexible and practice-based learning, while Greece demonstrates gradual development, especially after the introduction of Skills Labs in 2021. Overall, the study highlights that entrepreneurship education is increasingly recognized as a key competence within European primary education systems.
