Abstract

Το πτυχιακό αυτό project αφορά την συγγραφή σεναρίου/λιμπρέτου και σύνθεση μουσικής για μια μουσικοθεατρική παράσταση βασισμένη στο μύθο του Ορφέα και της Ευρυδίκης. Ο συγκεκριμένος μύθος έχει υπάρξει ιδιαίτερα σημαντικός στην ιστορία του μουσικού θεάτρου, και πιο συγκεκριμένα στα είδη της όπερας και του musical theater. Έχει αποτελέσει τη βάση για την πρώτη ολόκληρη σωζόμενη όπερα (Euridice, J. Peri, 1600), τη μεταρρύθμιση της όπερας (Orphée et Eurydice, C. W. Gluck, 1762), και την καινοτόμα και πολυβραβευμένη παράσταση musical theater (Hadestown, A. Mitchell, 2006) ως μερικά παραδείγματα για τη σημασία του μύθου στην ιστορία του μουσικού θεάτρου. Η συγκεκριμένη εργασία εξετάζει το σενάριο ανά σκηνή, εστιάζει σε κάθε χαρακτήρα ξεχωριστά, και εξηγεί την αφηγηματική χρήση της μουσικής μέσω των μοτίβων. Τέλος, αναλύει τη λειτουργικότητα των επιλογών που πάρθηκαν κατά τα στάδια της συγγραφής/σύνθεσης και των προβών καθώς και τη σημασία τέτοιων έργων και προσπαθειών σχετικά με τη σκηνή musical theater στην Ελλάδα.

The main focus of this project is the writing of the script/libretto and the music composition for an original musical stage play based on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. This particular myth has played a major part in the history of opera and musical theater as it has been the foundation of the first complete opera discovered (Euridice, J. Peri, 1600), the reformation of opera as a genre (Orphée et Eurydice, C. W. Gluck, 1762), and the revolutionary and award-winning musical theater performance (Hadestown, A. Mitchell, 2006) as a few examples of its importance. This paper examines the script scene by scene, focuses on each character individually, and explains the narrative use of the music through motifs. In conclusion, the functionality of each choice made during the writing/composition and rehearsal stages is analysed along with the importance and legacy of such works and attempts in relevance to the musical theater stage of Greece.
