Abstract: Throughout history, war has been one of the most devastating forces, leaving behind severe social, political, and psychic damages in addition to physical loss. International relations are altered, populations are uprooted, and society are reshaped. One of the largest and most widespread conflicts in recent years has been the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which started in February 2022. In addition to creating the biggest refugee crisis in Europe since World War II, this war has challenged the fundamentals of international law and security and sparked a global response that includes sanctions, military help, and humanitarian relief. This study aims to analyse the national measures adopted by Poland, which received almost the largest number of refugees, to help Ukrainians to assimilate quickly and directly into the labour market. Other issues to be discussed include the deeper causes that led to the outbreak of the war, the immediate and effective response of the European Union to Russia (applying sanctions) and, by extension, what policies were followed and how the whole of Europe tried to stand up and help the refugees.
