Abstract: | The Covid-19 pandemic has posed significant challenges to leaders and decision-makers worldwide, requiring effective leadership and decision-making strategies to mitigate the crisis' impact. This master's thesis critically examines the leadership approaches and decision-making processes employed during the Covid-19 crisis, focusing on the global response to the pandemic. By conducting a comprehensive analysis of literature and case studies, this study seeks to provide a nuanced understanding of effective leadership and decision-making in the context of the Covid-19 crisis. The research objectives encompass exploring the diverse leadership strategies employed globally, analyzing their effectiveness and implications for managing the crisis. The study also aims to examine the decision-making processes utilized by leaders, considering the factors influencing these decisions and their impact on public health and socio-economic outcomes. Furthermore, the research aims to identify the key challenges faced by leaders, including ethical dilemmas, resource allocation, and balancing short-term and long-term goals. Ultimately, the study aims to extract valuable lessons from the Covid-19 crisis to inform future crisis management and leadership practices. Using a mixed-methods approach, this research draws upon a comprehensive review and analysis of existing literature and case studies of exemplary leadership responses. Thematic analysis will be employed to analyze the collected data, identifying patterns, themes, and emerging findings. By examining the leadership approaches and decision-making processes employed during the Covid-19 crisis, this master's thesis aims to contribute to the existing body of knowledge on crisis management and leadership. The findings will provide valuable insights for future leaders, policymakers, and organizations in enhancing their crisis leadership capabilities, improving decision-making processes, and fostering resilience in the face of similar crises. Ultimately, this study aspires to develop effective leadership strategies that guide us through future crises and promote the well-being of individuals and societies worldwide. |
