Que Bloco é Esse?

Abstract

Το παρόν πτυχιακό project έχει θέμα τη samba reggae, ένα βραζιλιάνικο είδος μουσικής. Πραγματοποιήθηκε με σκοπό την καταγραφή ήδη υπαρχουσών ενορχηστρώσεων από κομμάτια του μουσικού είδους της samba reggae από εμένα, που τελικά οδήγησε στην παρουσίαση αυτών μέσω μιας συναυλίας με τα μέλη της Banda Paranauê. Τα παρακάτω κεφάλαια αποτελούν μία συμπληρωματική παρουσίαση βασικών στοιχείων της samba reggae και της αφροβραζιλιάνικης κουλτούρας γενικότερα. Το πρώτο κεφάλαιο περιέχει μια αναλυτική περιγραφή της samba reggae, τα μουσικά της στοιχεία, την προέλευσή της καθώς επίσης και το κοινωνικό-πολιτισμικό της πλαίσιο. Εστιάζει επίσης στα blocos afro και την θέση τους στο πολιτισμικό και πολιτικό πλαίσιο του Salvador, κάνοντας αναφορά σε 2 από τα σημαντικότερα blocos afros της Βραζιλίας, τους Olodum και τους Ilê Aiyê. Ακόμη, αναφέρεται στο candomblé, τη θρησκεία της αφρικανικής διασποράς, παρέχοντας μια συνοπτική περιγραφή των βασικών της στοιχείων, και αναλύεται η σημασία της προφορικής παράδοσης, με αναφορές στο παράδειγμα των Bambara και τη συμβολή των Griô στην αφροβραζιλιάνικη κουλτούρα. Στο δεύτερο κεφάλαιο περιγράφονται τα μουσικά όργανα της samba reggae και του candomblé, που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν για τη διεξαγωγή της συναυλίας, αναλύοντας τα ηχητικά και τεχνικά χαρακτηριστικά τους. Το τρίτο και τελευταίο κεφάλαιο περιέχει το πρόγραμμα και το ρεπερτόριο της συναυλίας, καθώς και τη διαδικασία εκπόνησής της. Περιλαμβάνει επίσης τις παρτιτούρες των κομματιών που παρουσιάστηκαν στη συναυλία, καθώς και τη σημειογραφία αυτών.

This thesis project is about samba reggae, a Brazilian music genre. It was carried out in order to write οn scores existing arrangements of music pieces of the samba reggae genre by myself, which eventually led to the presentation of these through a concert with the members of Banda Paranauê. The following chapters are a supplementary presentation of key elements of samba reggae and Afro-Brazilian culture in general. The first chapter contains a detailed description of samba reggae, its musical elements, its origins as well as its socio-cultural context. It also focuses on the blocos afro and their power in the cultural and political context of Salvador, making reference to 2 of the most important blocos afros in Brazil, the Olodum and the Ilê Aiyê. Furthermore, it refers to candomblé, the Brazilian version of the religion of the African diaspora, providing a brief description of its main elements and analyses the importance of oral tradition , with references to the example of the Bambara and the contribution of the Griô to Afro-Brazilian culture. The second chapter describes the musical instruments of samba reggae and candomblé that were used for the concert, analyzing their sound and technical characteristics. The third and last chapter contains the programme and repertoire of the concert, as well as the process of its elaboration. It also includes the scores of the pieces performed in the concert, as well as their notation.
