Abstract: This dissertation assesses the impact of government policies effectiveness on the officially reported deaths and cases attributed to Covid-19. Using daily data for 32 and 36 counties and relying on the stringency of the conducted policies as it has been recorded by the Oxford University’s Index and applying panel fixed effect threshold, I find that the government responses can be effective in the reduction of the cases and deaths if they are applied at a certain level.
