Περίληψη: Over the decade, an extensive research has been implemented about effectiveness of elected parliaments and the factors affecting it. These studies present various proposals to parliaments to increase economic and social issues. This Thesis, attempts to find out and analyze the connections between effectiveness of elected parliaments of Greece combined with financial data related with growth and debt. The education level, the members’ occupation, the female participation and the Political families in Greek Parliament were the most important facts which took place to this research. The most important difficulty was the collection of data and biographical details for the Parliament members for the period from surcease of dictatorship till today (21/11/1974 - 14/10/2016) because of the lack of systematic data collection from Greek government until recent years. Some of the conclusions are coordinated with the bibliography, but there are also other results which cannot verify it. The participation of Lawyers in politics have a negative impact on the rate growth rate of GDP per capita and it is clearly seen that lawyers have a positive impact at the inflation rate. Hence, the obtained result indicates that Lawyers in Parliament harm the Greek economic performance. The participation of Engineers, according to bibliography, should promote economic development, unfortunately we do not get any significant results. Economists have a positive impact on exports despite of the fact that they are positively correlated with the debt. Political families presents a negative impact on GDP per capita growth and exports, and they are correlated with inflation with positive sign. Nevertheless, a contradictive result arises from the regression with general government debt, which presents a negative sign. Most of evidences indicate that political families do not promote economic development. The influence of education on the growth and debt it is also remarkable. Parliaments with bachelor degree from abroad seem to be negative to inflation and the negative impact of those who hold a degree from a Greek University on debt it is also clearly observed. Finally the impact of female’s participation does not coordinated with the bibliography at all.
