Title: Soundwaves: for chamber orchestra
Authors: Constantinides, Dinos
Keywords: LRC247
Issue Date: 2010
Abstract: As the title indicates “Soundwaves for Chamber Orchestra” uses waves through octatonic formations at the very start of the piece. This section then leads to waves of serial entities which appear for the first time in a unison statement of the entire group. Changes of rhythms and special effects highlight the element of coloring throughout the composition. Vivid and frantic entities at the end bring the work to an exciting close. “Soundwaves for Chamber Orchestra” is written for the 31st anniversary of North/South Consonance activities during the 2010 – 11 season, at the suggestion of the Music Director of the group, Max Lifchitz. It is dedicated to this wonderful organization which has presented numerous new compositions of many composers.
Description: This work is dedicated to Max Lifchitz and his group North/South Consonance.
