The Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra is a fun piece. It denotes the thoughts of the Alto Saxophone and the Orchestra. Throughout the piece intervallic relationships control the various happenings. Sonorities based on seconds and thirds highlight the harmonic progressions which influence the direction of the music. Stylistic quotations ornamented by sound effects are also important. This piece employs materials from other saxophone pieces and it is written as a concerto for alto saxophone and orchestra at the suggestion of the Greek virtuoso saxophonist Theodore Kerkezos to whom this work is dedicated.en
