Fantasia for Solo Violin (1965) was written by the composer when he was a student at Michigan State. The piece is in ABA form. The A section is slow and uses many string effects such as glissandos, double stops and left hand pizzicatos. The B section is faster and is in the style of a Greek dance. The material from this piece inspired a series of works entitled “Fantasia” for many different instruments.en
