Encore for Piano Trio and String Orchestra is an extended version of the second movement of the composer’s Trio No.2. The opening cell of three notes is made of the intervals of major third and major seventh. This cell controls the entire piece. Encore is a typical scherzo movement with a fast rhythmic section, interrupted by a slow interlude in the middle of the work prior to its return. A triplet figure of repeated notes is evident everywhere in a highly contrapuntal manner. Special effects on both the solo and the tutti parts produce in places coloring which is in contrast to the overall vivacious and rhythmic tone of the composition.en
