Abstract: This paper is an overview and also a specification of the evolving relationship between NATO and the Russian Federation after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. It is based on the information provided by NATO, the NATO-Russia Council, United Nations the European Union and other organizations. The relations of both sides over the years from opponents to cooperators, from Afghan operations to intervention to Georgia and finally to further planning of common directions.
